Moisture in a slab is one of the most common reasons a new floor fails. We test substrates before any covering goes down and, where readings are too high and the programme cannot wait, apply a surface damp proof membrane so the floor can be laid without delay.

What we deliver

  • Moisture testing to BS 8203, with readings recorded
  • Mechanical preparation to receive the membrane
  • Liquid applied epoxy membranes at the specified coverage
  • Smoothing compound over the cured membrane, ready for the finish
  • Detailing at perimeters, upstands and penetrations

Frequently asked questions

BS 8203 sets the threshold for bonding at 75 per cent relative humidity. Above that, a moisture-sensitive covering should not be laid directly without a membrane.

It is not designed to. A surface membrane manages residual construction moisture in the slab. A leak or failed waterproofing has to be dealt with separately first.
